  1. OTC allergy medication seems to work fine for me, you might need to spend some time to get allergy tests performed to find out what is causing the problem for you. You might be afflicted by something other than your run of the mill allergies that are proven to be effective for.

  2. I happen to work with a group that tests over the counter allergy medications. They do work in the majority of the population. If they aren’t working for you, you’re either a freak or you do not really have an allergy, or both.

Diphenhydramine hydrochloride is the most effective OTC medication. It makes me sleepy, but it works. It’s also cheaper than the others. Use it and skip the rest.

  3. My vote is freak, but I’ll have to try this “Diph” stuff. Hopefully “the man” got something right!

  4. For me I don’t want to try taking OTC medications. Its still best to consult a doctor. I won’t jeopardize my life just for the sake of saving some penny.
At least your experience is a lesson learned for everybody!

    Good luck!
